Place/Lieu: Chendge - Shanxi - China

Program/Programme: Museum for a chinese artist, gathering paints, sculptures and poetry. Exhibitions spaces, studio, housing, restaurant and offices/Musée pour un artiste chinois, rassemblant peintures, sculptures et poésie. Espaces d'exposition, ateliers, logements, restaurant et bureaux.

My Mission/Ma Mission: Conception - Drawing/Dessin - Modelling/Modélisation

 

Established in a mountainous area, on a stony plateau, the project takes advantage of the region's traditional activity, the stone cutting, and retranscribe it into an architectural concept.

From a solid, from a mass, outwards connections are opened by cutting the stone. The project is playing of contrast between the materiality, the rough material, the massivity of the stone and the transparency of the glass and the whiteness of a simple concrete coating. Faults are bringing views, light, passage and entrance.

 

The building construction is achieved two years and a half after our contribution to the conception which has been partially followed-up with regard to the first ideas and to the first images. Those are the complication and the danger of chinese construction method when the construction is not followed-up by an architect since her beginning to her end.

 

Implantée dans une région montagneuse, sur un plateau pierreux, le projet s'inspire de la taille de pierre, activité traditionnelle de la région et tente de la retranscrire. 

D'un volume, d'une masse, s'ouvre à coup de taille le lien vers l'extérieur. Le projet joue du contraste de la matière, de la brutalité et de la massivité de la pierre, avec la transparence du verre et de la blancheur d'un revêtement simple béton. Les failles apportent les vues, la lumière, les passages, les entrées.

 

La construction du bâtiment est achevée deux ans et demi après notre intervention sur sa conception, avec un suivi partiel des premières idées et des premières images crées. Ceux sont les aléas et les dangers de la construction en Chine lorsqu'elle n'est malheureusement pas suivie du début jusqu'à sa fin par l'architecte concepteur.
